On scrum Board, the left most column of User Stories is kept static in a way that user stories cannot be moved to other columns of the board but the status of a user story changes along with the status of its sub-items. You can change User Story status directly by changing its status field value.

Kanban/Scrumban Board focuses on User Stories and independent Issues mainly. User tracks User Story progress by moving it in different status columns. Widget contents are designed accordingly.

Release Board focuses on release contents where User Stories and Issues are considered as the main point of attention. Only Done items are considered as Final Release contents. With this Board, in one glance, you can see that which are those Done items. For example, if there is a task under user story that is not Done then User Story status will be “In Progress”. Hence, the user story is not ready for the release.
